Supply Hose Failure

Rubber hoses harden and crack over time. The #1 cause of major washer floods — often happens while you're at work. Replace rubber hoses with braided steel every 5 years.

Drain Hose Overflow

Clogged or improperly positioned drain hoses send rinse water across the floor instead of into the standpipe.

Machine Malfunction

Failed lid switches, broken water inlet valves, and control board errors can cause continuous fill cycles.

Door Seal Failure

Front-load washer gaskets collect mold and eventually crack, leaking water onto the floor with every cycle.

Overflow/Suds

Using non-HE detergent in high-efficiency machines creates excess suds that force water out of the machine.

Clogged Pump Filter

Front-load washers have drain pump filters that, when clogged, cause water to back up and overflow the drum.

Unplug the washing machine immediately — never work around electrical appliances with standing water.

Turn off the water supply valves behind the machine (hot and cold). If the hose burst, shut off the main.

Move laundry, rugs, and any items off wet flooring to prevent further saturation.

Photograph all water damage — wet floors, walls, cabinetry — before cleanup begins for insurance documentation.

If water has spread under vinyl or hardwood flooring, do not attempt to dry it with fans alone — moisture trapped underneath causes buckling and mold.
